Why I offer doula support:

Before I started training as a birthworker, I was a working artist and artist’s assistant. I see many connections to the creative process and the act of “mothering”: both are grounded in creation, care, reflection and cultivating growth through a labor of love. I see direct action carework as a natural extension of both my creative passions and personal strengths.

I was inspired to become a doula after I spent several years in and out of doctors’ offices, beginning to unravel the complexities surrounding my chronic pain associated with endometriosis.

I began to develop doula-like habits as I navigated my own health challenges – scouring research studies, compiling notes to bring with me to doctor’s visits, learning about and participating in holistic healing practices, and practicing self-advocacy.

I was drawn to doula work as a way to offer support and care to others who are navigating barriers to just medical care. I seek to fully embrace, uplift, and empower birthing people of all identities and accompany those who are on a journey of learning to trust and embrace their body and its wisdom.
